Your michelada is just what the Doctor ordered for after work. Oysters on the half shell are a must also.

Fresh, efficient, no frills deliciousness! The oysters on the half shell and fried oysters with a cold beer are my favorite!

Cheap and delicious seafood! If you get there early try to grab a seat at the bar. Captain Tom's hands down has the BEST gumbo I have ever had! The broth to rice ratio is perfect. I add some Tabasco and it adds a nice kick to it. I made the mistake of ordering a cup so I'll order the bowl next time. The oysters were only 7.95 for a dozen!! You can't beat that price unless you're going somewhere with happy hour.
For how cheap it is, it sure is delicious! The service is incredible too! They truly try to make sure they treat everyone with the same upmost respect and attentiveness. Make sure you tip when you pay at the front! -

I liked it, I just am not a huge fan. The three times I have been here, the food has been just ok. I think I was just expecting better. The food comes out quick, hot and is consistently decent. It does seem to be battered heavy and deff is american style. I wish it was more brit fish and chips, but it is what it is. I love the lively atmosphere though and the odd shape of the place. Good for a few people to grab and after dinner drink and food.

Planning my short biz trip to Houston, Captain Tom's was first on my list of places to eat.. it did not disappoint! I was surprise by how homey and hole-in-the-wall it felt despite the building being huge and in the shape of a ship lol.
THE GOOD:
- Fastest service I have ever experienced in my life. Sitting at the bar, I ordered 3 things (dozen oysters, gumbo, & stuffed crab) and it literally came out in SECONDS. Oysters and gumbo came out under 10 seconds and the fried stuffed crab
- GREAT PRICES 7.95 for a dozen yummy, instagram ready oysters?! you cannot beat this. Don't get me started on their sub $4 gumbo, which just happens to be one of the better gumbos I got to taste in houston...
- Gumbo was so good (+ PACKED WITH GRAB AND SHRIMP!!!), I brought a pint back to the bay area lmao.
The MEH:
- Their cocktail sauce for the oysters was a little bland - something I wasn't used to.
- I love tabasco, but the bottle that I was given was kinda dirty. Aw well, for the price and service 5-stars still!!
